O/S Daily Saturday 27 February 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cold start to the day here with some frost.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoyed my first cuppa and a brekkie bar. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad.
Yesterday I got done what I wanted - I'll head out to pick up a SM takeaway for tonight's dinner shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Cold and frosty here too but bright and sunny.
Steve finally has a Drs appointment, it's only taken 4 weeks, many many emails and a slew of formal complaints.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning, it's fine here but with a slight frost. It was a lovely day yesterday - I went to pop a friends birthday card through her letter box, and she opened the front door, so we had a distanced chat for a few minutes then ended up sitting in her back garden, apart of couse, and I didn't go through the house. We weren't sure if we were allowed to be doing this - there were only two of us.I stayed for about half an hour and I must say it brightened us both up.I hadn't spoken face to face with her since before Christmas, and in normal times see each other twice a weekMaddie, glad your furry animal seems to be recovering , what a relief for you. Your husband does well doing all thet cycling, it's a lot.Gers, hope you enjoyed your birthday.Camelot, when I've had new appliances I'm always eager to use them for a while, it soon wears off though!Nanny hope you're feeling better today.Florenceem, those purses you made are lovely.Nothing happening today here, I might go out and buy a loaf, possibly some eggs. Might get out in the garden as well.Thinking of those who are not well/ struggling with life - take care folks14

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.My zoom session last night was hugely enjoyable, we chatted away for over two hours, it's been a long time since that's happened. This morning I'll be doing the usual supermarket shop. DM is still not very well so is not eating much. I'll get a extra amount of veggies to make soup, probably red peppers as a friend I bumped into yesterday has inspired me. I also ordered some delicious cakes from the Italian deli as there will be a post-birthday tea with DM and her crossword friend this afternoon. After unpacking the presents which got delivered I'll need to make another trip to the tip with all the cardboard, the chaps there who are checking residential status just wave me through nowadays. 😀
Florence - great purses. They look very impressive.Right, time for getting going. All my thoughts to those who are struggling. Happy Saturday to everyone.13 -
Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Minus 1° here, I'm wearing thick winter pjs now that I can manage to put the top on myself, a struggle but the top is actually a very thick sweatshirt. I can't manage a dressing gown or cardigan so I am wrapped in a very old pashmina. I might look a bit odd but I am warm and cosy. Bits of me are anyway. Not the feet.
We all went for our vaccinations yesterday, it was the Pfizer one and everyone had to sit in the church pews for 15 minutes afterwards. I chose to have the jab in my poorly arm, I felt that if I did get a sore arm, that one is already sore and at least I'd still have one good arm. The nurse understood immediately. I'm glad I did, it is extra painful at the injection site.
No plans for today, I would like OH to put the things that live in the car back in the car in contrast to where they are now, which is in the kitchen and dining room. But he is also being asked to hang out laundry daily and he's doing cooking and washing up, usually we share that. And of course anything I can't lift (most things) he does for me. It does go against the grain not to just do things on automatic pilot and yesterday I got told off for carrying a cup of tea. I can actually hold a cup of tea, it is heavy things that are not possible.
The sun is out, melting the frost in patches, I have not looked at the forecast but yesterday was a very pretty day, hoping for more of the same.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning All
I've been MIA for a few days but I have been reading along so I am up to date! My DF seems to be deteriorating gradually and now gets me up multiple times in the night which makes me permanently tired and a bit grumpy! I need to remind myself that we are spending time together and that is the main thing. He has some tests coming up at the hospital but if I'm honest I'm not sure there is much can be done.
I got up early to try and get things done whilst the house is quiet! It sets me up for the day if I can be a bit productive first thing and at least do a bit of a hoover round and wash the kitchen floor. I feel like I am keeping on top of the house but not really making any progress in terms of deep cleaning. I may need to book some time off work to get a bit of spring cleaning done - I have a lot of annual leave to use and I won't be going on holiday so may as well use some of it.
I have a few chores to get on with - ironing, cooking, cleaning. Once those are done I will try and get at least a couple of hours rest this afternoon.
Life is rather dull I'm afraid but I'm too tired to do anything anyway so that's ok and I'm one of those people who is pretty content being in lockdown.
It's a beautiful day with not a cloud in the sky - there is a frost but I'm sure that will soon be gone.
Thinking of all of you

Morning lovelies, the sun is shining as it was yesterday, hopefully I can get out in the garden for a check on what's started growing. I did notice the catkins hanging on the trees now. I got up for a loo break and saw the very bright moon about 3.30am, really needed some sunglasses on
Superb ! May have lunch on the patio, oooh ! get me, probably it'll be just a coffee, but that'll do for me. Fresh air and warm sun, can't ask for more these days.
I felt better yesterday at last, but I'd go through it again (and probably will at the 2nd jab) just to be able to see my family face to face and keep others safe too. I did 2 loads of washing and dried them on the whirly, hooray ! I can't remember the last time I was able to do that.We decided to go for a walk too, Mr Fix it was dressed to climb the Eiger and I just shoved my boots and down jacket on, although I did wear a buff in case anyone got too near. We met lots of people we know and had several socially distanced chats, probably did more chatting than walking thoughThat's the trouble when you've lived/worked in the same place for quite a few years, but it was still nice to be out and see different people. I also re-potted my poinsettia that DD bought me at xmas as it had become pot bound, hopefully it will pick up well now.
Thanks to all who were concerned about my health, you know who you areIt was much appreciated and fair lifted my spirits, so again my thanks
.
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing. Sending healing vibes to the poorly ones, their families and animals. Hugs to anyone having a difficult time with anything, even the daily grind.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I'm late this morning but sadly not due to a lie in. I have been internet roaming and woolgathering. We escaped the frost this morning but by the look of the forecast most of us are due to get it tomorrow morning. As long as we don't get the snow back I can settle for that.
It's supposed to be the postponed Friday Tidy today but I think that may end up just a downstairs job. I object to cleaning at weekends but needs must! My little trip into town yesterday didn't last long but it was nice just to have a wander round and buy a few bits I can't get on my sm delivery. Talking of which I do have a grocery delivery at lunchtime and a text informs me I just have one item missing - a large size chicken breast joint. I won't starve without it as it was intended for the freezer anyway! I have stuck to my guns and eaten from the freezers as much as I could since Christmas and finally there is a bit of room in them. So I can now start a bit of a re-stock without feeling guilty!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, convalescents and just p***d off. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning all
Bright and sunny day here but with a frost but it should be a nice day, I have a towel load in the wm which can be hung out for a while.
Car MOT this morning hopefully it will pass with no work needed, OH will follow me in his car and then run me back later to pick mine up.
Chilli and rice for dinner which OH will cook he makes a lovely chilli and enjoys cooking it. Tomorrow mum is coming for dinner which will be nice.
Later my sister and I are going to mums to help with the big clear up, mum is not the tidiest of people and my brother was the same so the house needs quite a lot of attention as does the garden, in fact the garden had become a bit of a dumping ground with all sorts thrown out there so I might start on that, mum just wants to sit and sew all day which is fair enough at her age !!
Maddie I was so pleased to the the good news re your doggie xxx
Have good days all xx12 -
Tryingtcb apologies as I missed your post while faffing about with mine. Great big hugs for you and your DF. Hope the tests are not as bad as you fear, unfortunately I know how that feels. Pm me if you need to talk. nan

Good morning all, frosty and bright start then foggy, now seems to be brightening. I want to make the base for a fish curry this morning from half tins of this and that which were decanted and stored a few days ago, then hopefully it will brighten and I can enjoy a bit more weeding and tidying in the garden. I need to clean and refill some bird feeders soon although chez MM towers has not attracted much bid life this winter, still plenty of food to see them through nesting, hatching eggs etc.
Nmlc enjoy your takeaway, you cook such great food for your menfolk, you deserve some time off from cooking.
Hester good news about Steve’s appointment, what stress for you sorting it out though
ScarlettRibbons I am desperate to be able to meet up with my best friend as soon as we can.
AOD great that you are getting more movement and hopefully less pain.
Gers and TTCB you are both doing wonderfully looking after your folks, it must be hard physically and emotionally for you.
Nanny great to hear that you are beginning to feel better.
TA I think that you are doing better than me at running the freezer stores down, very much a work in progress here.
Ruby fingers crossed for the MOT, it will be nice for your mum if she can look out onto a tidy garden, take it steady though.
Thinking of Marie and all that are poorly or sad, hugs and spoons to all that need them.
