Question asked 26th February.keithc440 said:Purchased a used Vauxhall Astra online from an Nationwide dealership on 20/01/2021. Noticed fairly soon that the steering was pulling to the left. Contacted dealer to book in to be looked at (within first 30 days from delivery).
...
Also I have since spotted that the front passenger head light has a chip in the corner and the body panel around this is not aligned correctly. This is not damage I have caused.0 -
I raised the issue of the tracking within 30 days. They agreed to let me take it to and independent garage to get it adjusted. This did not solve the problem. Does the 30 days countdown not pause when I raise and issue ? The problem still is not solved.
Regarding pre inspection. This was initially by video inspection. Some faults were pointed out in the bodywork and rectified prior to delivery. The fault I have later discovered was not pointed out in the video inspection. I wonder why ?
When the car was delivered it was dark and raining. I had not expected them to deliver in the dark. This made it difficult to check the car fully.
I have phone the dealer this morning and advised them I wish to reject the car. They are collecting it Tuesday as they say they have to inspect it first. They will ring me back on Tuesday afternoon. I will update the thread with the outcome.0 -

Anywhere who can't sort tracking is, by definition, incompetent.
If the tracking was out due to a structural problem, then the tracking should highlight this.
Proper four-wheel alignment will produce a before-and-after report like this...
Did you get such a report?Regarding pre inspection. This was initially by video inspection. Some faults were pointed out in the bodywork and rectified prior to delivery. The fault I have later discovered was not pointed out in the video inspection. I wonder why ?
If it was a totally remote transaction, then you had 14 days to do that initial inspection and return the car.

If they do, then good for them.0 -
Regarding the 30 days right to refuse under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. I took delivery of the car on 20/01/21. I contacted them re the car pulling to the left on 08/02/21 and they booked it in to be looked on the 19/02/2021. They agreed the day before to allow me to get the tracking looked at locally and they reimbursed me for doing this. They agreed to this as their ramp was broken and they would have to send it out to be checked and could not give me a timescale. I had this done on the 19/02/2021. Does the countdown on the 30 days not stop from when I contacted them on the 08/02/21 to 19/02/21 ? As such I contacted them again this week on 23/02/21 about it and was passed between servicing and sales between now and today when I have rejected the vehicle. As I calculate it I'm still within the 30 days if we include the days the countdown was paused.
Re not raising the bodywork issue earlier, it was only as I was looking at the left side of the vehicle myself to try and work out why it was still pulling to the left that I noticed the damage. I think there is every possibility both problems are connected.0 -
Within the 30 day window, you notified them of a minor issue with the tracking. You agreed to them covering the cost of your preferred garage resolving the issue. That was the end of that issue.
(Your preferred garage then made a dog's breakfast of it. This is not the supplier's problem. Did your preferred garage give you the four-wheel alignment before/after printout? If so, can you post it?)
This is a separate issue, reported outside the 30 days, UNLESS you can show the tracking fault is due to substantial collision damage sustained at the same time as the bodywork, prior to your purchase...
Yet that bodywork damage is, it seems, very minor if you didn't notice it until looking VERY carefully having owned the car for more than a month.
Let's see a pic of the bodywork damage.
