Help with wrong deposit

Not sure if this is the correct place to post: 
I have recently signed a form to release my deceased’s mother’s savings, unfortunately i got one digit wrong on the sort code and it’s gone to a different bank. The sort code existed just my luck! What I don’t know is if the account number is a genuine one with that bank. So far it hasn’t been returned to my mother’s bank and it’s been 2 days so unlikely. They have started the forms etc to try and reclaim it. But does anyone know what happens if it’s and actual account and the owner has withdrawn it?

It would be easier if the account number wasn’t a real one, but knowing my luck it will be. From a sort code search it’s an ISA account t so I’m hoping the recipient doesn’t know yet, and it will just get recalled. I’m so angry with myself. Especially at the prospect of losing a substantial amount of money.
