New Business Start-up - Website Building and Hosting - Recommendations and Specifically Why?

Hi
I am looking to start-up a small business, for the time being, it will just be me working and I will have some casual workers (friends with time on their hands!), until I can afford to expand.
One of the main things that I do require is to have a website that I, myself can edit and update - maybe even a blog page.  I will need several email addresses and also I would like to have the hosting with a company who has a good reputation for uptime.  I won't have the funds to pay someone every time I want to do a simple tweak or update of information.   I already have the domain name and it is registered through Namecheap.

I have a couple of other domain names (related to the business) and these are registered with GoDaddy.  My idea with this is to have additional simple websites which will have links to my main business website (not even sure if this is possible) or if it is a good idea!

Many thanks
Terrysdelight

PS.  Any recommendations on New Business Start-Up Forums would be appreciated!

The last thread you made about hosting didn't have good enough answers?

Entirely depends how much you want to learn. You could get some hosting, install wordpress and a wordpress template (either find a free one you like, or buy one). But maybe something more hands off is better for you, like a Wix website?
  • I can't find any thread about hosting.   I asked questions about transferring domains?

For example, Neil_Jones in that thread also gave a recommendation of looking into Wordpress. And as we both mentioned, it takes a bit of learning on your part for how to use Wordpress (answers can be found via Google searches), but gives you much more flexibility than using a service such as Wix

Thank you.  I did search back and couldn't find this myself.  I will have a good read through.
  • If you are building a business, it probably isn't the time to learn Wordpress. Time is money and you can lose a week or maybe even two getting to grips with it, especially without past experience.

I'd look at something like Wix (there are alternatives) to start out: https://www.wix.com/upgrade/website?referralAdditionalInfo=PricingHeader

Those prices will soon stackup tho, so if your business turns out to be viable, then I would in 3-6 months suggest you get a local web designer/developer involved to do the job properly and help ensure your website is generating leads.

A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?
