Can you reject a product due to damaged packaging?

I ordered a printer online and it has been delivered with two big dents / punctures in the box - no extra packaging used, just the consumer box.
Since the product is obviously fragile, would it be sensible to reject it without opening?

You could have rejected it straight away and got the courier to return.
But too late for that, so take photos, open the box and check. if there is damage to the printer then return, if there isn't then don't worry.1 -
The problem might be that as printers have a myriad of internal moving parts, some of them quite fragile, any damage might not be obvious and may not show up until late on.
Personally, I would suggest sending an e-mail to the seller informing them of the state of the packaging and ask them if they want it returning before you open and test it.2 -
Thanks both
