O/S Daily Friday 26 February 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cold start to the day here with some frost.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS1 enjoying a lie-in and DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was piri piri chicken, veg rice and pasta in a sauce. Tonight will be something quick and chips for the menfolk.
Yesterday I got done most of the chores I wanted to get done. A few things left for today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Quick one from me, I want to take the bedding to DDs so she can wash it for me, I'll collect it after work - great service this laundry business.
Hope everyone's well and as happy as you can be. Take care. XX16 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
A very clear night and we have a frosty morning but it is meant to be sunny today so another load of bedding in the washing machine, ready for OH to peg when he gets up. Yesterday I managed to strip our bed (rather slowly) and he put on fresh bedding.
Today we are all off for our vaccinations.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back16 -
Morning
The old fence, a wardrobe and my decluttered things have been taken to the tip. My neighbours replaced their old metal gate with a lovely new wooden one (which I'm jealous of!) so we took their old gate too.
Mr tru sometimes meets one of his mates for walk – two or three times per week - he's usually gone for a couple of hours at a time and I love these times! I'm really not built to be around someone all the time, I absolutely need quite a lot of time to myself. This is when plans are made, lists get written and things get done. I'm not achieving anything with other people around and I feel purposeless (is that a real word?!). I'm going to write a list of things that have been achieved over the last year, I think I need a bit of perspective. Or something, I need something, lol.
I spent yesterday morning pottering around the garden, pulling up weeds and attemping to brush old cobwebs off the fence. These things are gripfilled on I think, a stiff brush isn't doing the job properly. I'm tempted to take the hoover out there, lol.
There are three lavenders in my front garden. I think it's three, they've been neglected a bit, they've grown at funny angles and the stems have criss-crossed each other. Lots of dead bits too. They're under a california lilac which grew bigger than I thought it would so they've been reaching for light in all directions. I'm going to sort them out today and see if they're in a fit state to be moved.
Not much else planned for the day. We have a bit of frost this morning so I won't go outside too early, I'll wait til it warms up a bit. Pizza for lunch, then a couple of episodes of Republic Of Doyle this afternoon. I might even pick up a book, I haven't read for a while.

Morning folks.Yesterday my delayed deliveries turned up so I was a happy bunny again. Now I've got another pile of cardboard to take to the tip. I immediately put my new hand mixer to making a banana loaf which filled the place with a delicious smell. Whilst the mixer was expensive it's such a great machine. The new food processor will get used at the weekend. DM's old workhorses are in hibernation for now.I've got a WhatsApp call with family in Oz shortly and a zoom sessions with friends tonight, I'll be drinking a few sherbets then. A couple of surprise parcels also arrived yesterday, I've been very good and managed to not open them yet. I'll do that when DM is awake.Thoughts go out to all who are struggling. Happy Friday to everyone.15

Morning
Happy happy birthday Gers hope you are spoilt rotten and eat too much cake
Cold here today everywhere has a layer of frost but the forecast is another warm dry day later
Nothing much planned today. i have a call with the customer I have to suffer arduous zoom calls with today. Lots of soul searching has resulted in me deciding they are now taking the mick especially as they are introducing a large fee to be given any work in the future. Granted Im used to paying fees to other contract agents but they are nominal and this is thousands. As I dont have thousands to give and wouldn't anyway its time to go. I looked back and its over two years since they gave me any work so they really are taking the proverbial. My business has been decimated with covid so I was hanging on to this customer but its time to get real
Food is totally slobby at the moment last night I literally soaked a cheese pizza with garlic butter and had cheesy garlic bread for dinner then tonight its a shop bought meat and potato pie ....must do better
Have a great day all

Morning all The dog is sleeping so i will be getting on in a minute just having a cuppa after our walk I had to call her mum last night to see if she could collect her tonight but she can't come till early tomorrow morning as i now can't have her in the garden without a lead on as she is trying to rip the artificial turf up and it is quite a big area so would be expensive to redo . Washing needs to go on and then a few files need to be done and the day will be spent walking and entertaining the dog .
Gers Happy Birthday have a wonderful day enjoy the sherbets and cake xx
Right have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe xSlava Ukraini15 -
Happy birthday Gers, hope you have a lovely day. It's fine here, yesterday was nice as well, chilly though. Wherever this temperature "plume" is, it's not here.We weren't out yesterday but I must go out today, just in our little high street. DH is going out soon to take the car to the garage for something being done to the brakes.Tru, I know what you mean about being tempted to take the hoover outside, so have I !There's a birthday card to deliver to a friend, it's hers tomorrow, so I'll do that, I can walk there, it's just a15 min walk. And that's about it for today.Hoping everyone has a good day - take care folks.14

Good morning, bright, very sunny and a very pretty white frost here. Gers I hope that you have a very happy birthday today, and your new kitchen "toys" sound wonderful, I love my stand mixer and my food processor
Tru I am just the same here with Mr MM, he cycles 3 times a week which takes him off for about 3 hours each time, I love that time, he rides just short of 100 miles a week if weather good, will be 79 this Autumn so pretty good going.
We had such great news yesterday, Ddog was at the Vets until gone 5pm, the lovely vet came out to see us with a smile on her face and said that the mass on furry one's liver had decreased to just a small area, her weight had increased and her bloods were good, so we are going to gently wean her from the medication and then check the situation in a few weeks as they cannot tell what caused the problem or exactly what has made it improve so much. This old biddy made a good attempt to do a happy dance LOL
Hugs and spoons and have the best day possible.
The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)16 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A very happy birthday to GERS. Have a lovely day opening gifts and enjoy your Oz calls and then zooms. I can see you now, sherbets in hand!
Well great excitement here. I am venturing out to somewhere that isn't the vets! DD is off down to the bank and asked if I wanted a little trip down to browse the dire selection of essential shops that we have open. Who knew that thoughts of a wander round Poundland could cause such excitement!! And then of course there is the bargain grocery shop, H & B and B**ts. I can't contain myself! The Friday Tidy will now be a Saturday Tidy but does it really matter when every day is the same!
I am steadily working my way through the freezers and yesterday I had a Christmas party for one. I enjoyed a plateful of the party bites I was silly enough to order way back in November when my hopes must have been high! They went down nicely with some salad and hm wedges. I might have the same again tonight just :cos I can!
NAN I hope you are feeling better. My SIL was ill for a week after hers with pounding headaches and muscle aches and pains. Strange how some folk are affected and some not. Have a good day if you can folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Thinking of RUBY and DUMPLING and their family and MARIE, Take care one and all stay safe xx
Good news about your dear doggy MADDIE. About time we had a bit of good news on here for a change x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -

There is a bit of a frost here this morning but the sun is shining so I think it will be a nice day, dd is off to work in a while so I am on pup wrangling duties, I will take her up the park for a good run.
I have a click and collect to pick up from Mr A at lunch time so will get that put away and then watch a film later, I will have a quick wizz round to do the housework this morning.
Pizza and salad for dinner tonight with some garlic and herb dip so nice and easy.
I wanted to say thank you to someone on here who has shown me such kindness, we have shared several pm's and they have really helped me and shown such kindnessI wont name names but just know I really do appreciate you xxx
Have good days and stay safe xx13
