Can i link another radio app to my google smart device?

the built in radio app(tunein) with my Lenovo smart clock essential wont play a radio station i want to listen to based outside the uk. I have found an app on my phone (radio.net) that plays it but i cant figure out how to link the app to the device so that it will play the station i want. It currently still tries to use the built in app and even if i directly ask it to use radio.net it just says it does not understand or it thinks i am asking for youtube music.
i know i could play it on the phone and via the smart device by using it as a speaker but i dont want to use up my phone charge. I figure if i had to use the phone then i might as well plug in ear phones and listen on the phone. I want to listen using the smart clock.
