Retirement and holidays

I work in a school and I'm planning on retiring in the next few weeks, the Easter holidays are coming up. I have to give 4 weeks notice
If I hand in my notice 2 weeks before the two weeks Easter holidays do these two weeks Count as part of my four week resignation period or will I have to work another two weeks after Easter?

    Does your contract say anything about your notice period having to be given at a certain time and/or needing to work the full period of notice? If 'no' to both, then highly unlikely you would need to work another 2 weeks on top of your 4 weeks' notice - but ask your employer to be sure.
    Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

    I think I wasnt clear enough - do my two weeks holidays count as part of my notice period or does my 4 weeks have to be 4 worked weeks?

    It's not unusual for holiday to be taken in a notice period.

    A notice period begins to run continuously from the day after notice is delivered.  The time does not pause because a holiday occurs.

    The only potential issue I can see is if the OP is employed on a term time only contract.  If that's the case I can understand the question, and it is one the school is best placed to answer

    my second issue is, i am owed around 10 weeks holidays - i think our year in terms of hols ends in April, there's no way i can take them and currently due to covid issues were allowed to roll over 2 weeks, if i cant take them am i entitled to request them as paid or will i likely loose them?

    You could hand in four weeks notice today, finishing on the 26th March. That would settle any issues with holiday counting as notice. As you are leaving before the end of the holiday year (assuming it is April it starts) you should get your 10 weeks holiday owing as pay. The only downside is the potential loss of lieu days from the Easter holidays. Only you know if that's worth it or not.

    school have now told me that my contract type means that im not entitled to take holidays lost whilst i was off, the union disagrees!

    What "contract type" is that?
    If not already, get your Union directly involved in sorting this with your employer.
