Credit on pre payment meter, final bill due?
In January I contacted E-on to close my mums account as she had passed away. She had pre payment meters installed for both her gas and electric. They were both in credit by about £40 when we closed the account. I received a letter from the electricity team saying they owe a refund. However today I have received a final gas statement telling me I need to pay about £132 to them? How is this the case when she had a prepayment meter which was not taking debt as she cleared it years ago.
Also, there was no money left in inheritance, therefore do I need to pay this myself?
