I was wondering if anyone has any experience of trying to claim a Stamp Duty refund for the additional 3% paid after selling their main residence, but where the main residence has been sold after the 3 year window has elapsed because of COVID-19? Our sale was significantly delayed so we're now nearly 3 months outside the window, despite having agreed the sale in summer last year. The reasons are all COVID related ranging from delays with valuations, mortgage providers, self isolating etc. so I am preparing a letter to submit alongside our application for the refund, but would appreciate anyone's advice if they've had either a successful or unsuccessful claim go through, as I'm not sure how much information to provide or what to mention. Any help appreciated!
