Proof for Insurance claim

Options
I hope I am posting on the right board.
My 'husband' was employed, has been off sick for a long time, but was recently terminated due to medical capability. We are buying our house and recently was left money in a will, so when I completed the "Turn2us" form on Universal credit, it stated what I thought, that he is not entitled to any support. He has been claiming ESA, but because he didn't apply for UC before he did not have enough NI contributions so all he gets is NI Credits.
Meanwhile, he has a mortgage insurance for sickness and redundancy, in the past he has claimed for sickness, but that has expired. But if you don't ask you never know, so we asked to see if the "Termination due to medical capacity" would be a reason to claim. They don't think so, but need various information which includes, letters from UC or Jobseekers, but he is not seeking work as he is still sick, and he isn't entitled to UC. He gets no money from ESA, just NI credits, but there is no correspondence. Already sent his P45 to them to update them.
Question - How does he prove he gets nothing from ESA and isn't entited to UC (Can't see the point in applying only to be turned down), doubt he'll get mortgage insurance claim, but fingers crossed.
Thanks for reading

The point would be to get the evidence that he's not entitled to anything.

The only reliable way is to apply and get the rejection letter which is then your proof. Whilst online checkers etc may be highly accurate they dont go through the same due process as your true application.

Unfortunately, based on this, I cannot see how they would be expected to pay out for anything other than the sickness element of the plan.  It was sickness that occurred first and resulted in the termination.  These policies are generally designed to pay out when both things occur at the same time, or at least during the same period, however, if you don't ask you don't get so ultimately you've got nothing to lose by asking.
