    It appears that father wholly owns a property so probate will be required.

    I know he is preparing for me all his accounts etc. so hopefully it will be easy to sort them out. 
    That can make it a lot easier if he is already on the job of "tidy up my life".

    Approaching a terminal parent and trying to deal with that tidy up when you have not been invited into the details can come across as interfering and a bit its about the money if you know it is happening you can offer to help.

    I was lucky my parents had theirs all documented as was walked through the details even then there was some stuff we missed and needed sorting.

    If you don't know the house history can be worth checking that any old mortgage charge has been removed and if not registered where are the deeds(even if registered the paper deeds can be handy historical reference).
    Also any docs relating to work done can be useful
