    Good ide and would just add if you want to stick with windows you could buy a laptop / pc with windows s-mode which is also locked down.

    Or simply just Linux. My parents have been set up with Linux for years and frankly they don't know the difference. And it's more lock down that way with very slim chance of being infected by anything.

    ^This. Does your mother really need Windows 10? Depending on what she uses the PC for, she may be well suited (and much safer) with an appropriate version of Linux. There is a very good article on choosing a distro for an elderly user here. (It's an old article, but the advice remains very relevant.)
