Car dealer backs out of deal

    If it was the other way round and the buyer realised they were paying far too much and said they had made a mistake, you can bet the dealer would not return the deposit. I can see where the OP is coming from.

    It depends what way it was overcharged. If I had agreed on a lower figure and they are trying to charge me more then yes I would ask for the money back. I have the dealer at least 2 opportunities to check things over and they said it was all correct.

    But because the error is, the deal must be completed...

    No, the dealer nearly always wins if they are not challenged as the OP is trying to get help with.
