Insurance and change of employment status during term
Looking at renewal quotes for car insurance for my son who is currently at University but finishes this year.
He finishes this year so the answer to one of the questions changes from 'Undergraduate Full time living away' potentially to 'unemployed' about 2 months into the policy.
I suspect that this change might invalidate car insurance if I dont tell them - comparison quotes are £100 more expensive for unemployed status.
Im wondering if I should simply opt for unemployed status upfront and pay the higher premium rather than change mid term and pay higher premium + an admin fee. I may ring one of the insurers to check but im thinking if I opt for a more risky/expensive cover then that may satisfy - does it work like that?

It doesn't work like that.
You give the facts as they are today and change them when circumstances change.1 -
This, but check the admin fees on the policies when deciding which to buy. Most cheap policies have high admin costs. Also check the difference on each between student and unemployed as this will vary.daveyjp said:It doesn't work like that.
