Wasn’t sure where to post this. I’m looking for a new fridge freezer for my garage. Searching in Currys all of them say not to be used in an outbuilding. I take that to mean garage. I don’t know why would they say they’re not for an outbuilding as my old one has always been in the garage. Can anyone recommend one that is safe for a garage. Sorry if this is a silly question.

It'll usually be because if the ambient temperature is too low, the freezer part will never come on, and the fridge will become the new freezer. which will lead to food spoilage. And if it develops a fault because you put it in a place where its not designed to work and/or is outside the specified operating temperature window, the warranty will theoretically be null and void.

"Whether you need to place your freezer in your garage, outbuilding or anywhere else in your home, our Freezer Guard technology ensures your freezer will always function properly, even in temperatures as low as -15°C. We do not recommend you use your fridge compartment in low ambient temperatures."
And when you check the full spec of one of those FridgeFreezers it says
"Minimum ambient temperature required for satisfactory operation - Freezer Only Down to -15°C
Stick with a Freezer only unit in the garage

Generally speaking a lot of fridges are ok to use in a cold setting and a lot of freezers are ok in a cold setting but , due to the way they work using the operation of the fridge as the control for the freezer temp, many fridge freezers are not and you need to look for that specific feature.
