ADT Alarm

  • I'll be advising my parents not to go ahead.

These experiences by customers don't do ADT any favours:

Not one good review in the last 6 months on link above.

Anyone interested about time-limited offers and how they can affect the market, have a gander at this.
17 years with an ADT system and very happy with the service. Typically customers post when they have issues - not when they are satisfied.
    You may have been lucky.

Btw, I'm well aware of the 'customers only post only when they have issues' phenomenon.

If you read my previous post properly and comprehend it, you would see that it's the bad reviews in combination with the time limited offer and cheap as chips price that is my cause for concern.

My parents are both in their eighties and I wouldn't want them experiencing bad customer service if or when they phone ADT with an issue (Seems the latest time limited marketing offer is a cunning plan to woo customers from the competition - without a plan on how to service those customers).

Btw, we will probably go with a local company, instead of one of the big names.
I would certainly agree with that for a domestic installation.

Also ensure that they own all of the system and are not renting any of it as happens with some contracts. That way they can easily change to a different maintenance company at any point in the future.

Yes, that is not a bad idea. I may persuade her to try that.
Realise op hasn't been active since May this year, but I'm having a go nevertheless.

@OP: did your daughter call them? Did she have the installation done with them?

My parents have been offered an alarm system by ADT at 75% discounted rate. Sounds too good to be true to be honest.

To top it, they've offered this price for 24 hours only. Suffice to say, we've not bitten.

I thought I got email when someone responded but no.
Anyway, they never got back in touch to confirm but I had put doubt in her mind so she never called them back.
I know ADT are a big company so not sure why they would be making such offers and I could find no 'MSE recommendation' like the salesperson said.
Could have been genuine, but ...
  • So someone calls you and asks if you have a house alarm. No way would i say no, it could be burglar bill setting up his break in list.

Absolutely. That's how come my dad called them and they came out to do survey and give quote based on it.

Also, we should never put our address on luggage when going on holiday. The tags the airline provide should be enough (or use the modern electronic tagging).
