Landline Only Deals

My elderly parents are currently paying for broadband which they no longer use, as dementia means that they have forgotten what to do.
I contacted their provider,  Plusnet, to see if I could ditch the broadband and just keep the landline and was told that this wasn't something they offered.
I then went looking for landline only deals and was shocked at how few of them there are. I'm sure my parents are not the only ones who only use the telephone and nothing else.
I'm looking for a deal which includes UK calls anytime and also calls to family in Canada. Can anyone recommend a provider than offers this for new customers??

If they are on qualifying benefits then possibly BT basic

Or standard BT line and friends and family international bolt on to call Canada at 6p a minute

I agree with Browntoa's recommendation in respect of BT. You could perhaps call them to see what they can offer your parents. I'm surprised about Plusnet since they are actually a part of BT, so what are they on about? Anyway, I've been happily with BT for the last 15 years. I phone every year - sometimes it's 18 months - and renegotiate a new contract.

I suspect that your parents are precious about their landline number.
When you change, make sure the new provider can keep their number!
  • Since asking my question, I have spent a few more hours trawling the net, and have come up with Simpletelecoms.
They have been really easy to deal with and have given me a deal which includes calls to my parents daughter and grandchildren in Canada.
They are primarily aimed at older people who just want a landline and seem to be very good at customer service. They have also guaranteed that my parents will keep their current phone number.
I will talk it over with my parents tomorrow and probably change and save next week.

Its a rolling 30 day contract. Just need to give the company 30 days notice to leave.
