I am moving so selling my main residence, I also own 1 property which I rent out. Would stamp duty be payable when I buy my new home?

No (if you mean the additional rate) - replacing your main residence (assuming you're selling and buying simultaneously) means it's treated as a standard purchase rather than an additional property.2

The additional 3% is payable when buying an additional property, but not when replacing your main residence (ie selling and buying). If you don't buy + sell + move on the same day, there are various timescales within which you may still be exempt from the additional tax. Please let us know what timescales you'r elooking at and we can advise further.2 -
Thank you thank you both for the advice. Saajan_12 I may have to rent short term whilst I find a new home, max 6 months I estimate0
