Good morning all, damp, dull and windy here today. Awaiting A*da delivery we seem to be at the tail end of the booked slot, but nothing missing and just 1 acceptable sub advised. Great news so many of us getting the jab or arranged booking.
My house is so untidy - bad even for me! the trouble with having chronic fatigue issues is that I never catch up with all that needs doing and 1 energetic day seems to be followed by 1 or 2 tired ones, I am really trying to do a little more each day, but do need the charity shops to be open to dispose of unwanted/un-needed items. I have even pulled a few items of clothing that need small repairs out of their hiding place and getting them done, but oh so painful even trying to sew on a button.
Scarlett - keeping everything crossed for the best birthday present ever. Thinking of Ruby, Marie, Dumpling and AOD.
3 or 4 caravan site bookings made for April, May and June, in the lap of the gods whether we get to go any all or indeed any (poorly dog, poorly aged mother, Covid rules etc, but live in hope)
Have the best day possible, take care and don't get blown away. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)14 -
Morning all.
Happy Birthday Scarlet. I really miss the cake with candles we used to have.
Csarina, that quilt sounds lovely. We don't do photos on here, do we? Pity, I love to see it.
Bella, I think it's a pity that Latin isn't taught in schools any more. In my day we all learned it because 'O' level Latin was required before you could even apply to University. I wasn't over the moon about having to learn it, but it has proved invaluable over the years. It's the root of so many English words that if you come across a word you've never met before, you can have a good idea of what it is about by looking for the Latin root.
It stays with you too. When my mother was at the depths of her dementia and didn't know who my Dad was, who we were or even who she was, Dad would only have to look up from his crossword and say, "What's the Latin for.....?" and she'd have it right there!
Dumpling, if you are reading, lots of hugs. And that goes for anyone else who would like one.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hello all, I have been MIA since the jab as I had a reaction to it that laid me low for a while, meaning 3 days in bed and no energy since
. I should have known what was coming as in the past I've had a reaction to the flu jab too. Still not 100% but getting there and I've lost quite a bit of weight through not wanting to eat anything ( what a way to do it ). Mr Fix It also had a reaction but seemed to get over it quicker and was starving all the time.
I did manage to sort out a shopping delivery and deliver most of it to Dad's yesterday, so he can eat for another week or two.Today I have sorted some clean washing and put it away and then re-shuffled my cabinet........the freezer ! Seems the messy elf has been in there and I can't find anything, glad I got some ready meals in there, neither of us felt like cooking, just popty ping, but I think I'll get some more ready for the 2nd jab, just in case.Think tea today will be corned beef hash followed by a HM fruit tart ( found in the freezer re-shuffle ) with ice cream/cream. Hopefully that will tickle my taste buds.Scarlet hope you have a very happy birthday. Have a lovely day.Hope everyone is well, hugs if not, especially to Maddie and Dumpling.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Happy Birthday Scarlett, hope you have a great day and have good news.11

Good afternoon everyone
Happy Birthday Scarlet, hope you have a lovely day xx
I have been jumping every time the phone rang but I finally managed to get in touch with my sister. She said the scan was ok but the consultant now needs to collate all the test results from her blood and biopsies before talking to her and making a plan. She has gone back to work this afternoon as she just wants everything to be as normal as it can be for now. It is my cousin's funeral on Friday and my sisters and brother are all travelling to Wales together. I won't be going but I hope it goes as well as it can do.
I am on very strong pain killers today and my leg feels a lot better. The district nurse came and looked at it today and will come back on Friday to see if I need another course of antibiotics. I suspect I will do as the swelling and redness have not gone down very much. I don't mind taking them as long as it prevents another attack of cellulitis. The nurse is coming out tomorrow for my first covid vaccination so I am excited about that. Steve had his whilst I was in hospital.
Thank you all so much for the well wishes and hugs, they are all very much appreciated. It has been a very bad start to the year but I do believe that the days will get better and it certainly helps to see the longer days and warmer temperatures.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx14 -
Happy birthday Scarlet.
Bella, I know of a couple of people who have accompanied their spouses to be vaccinated and asked if they could be done at the same time and were. Alternatively if you go on the NHS website he can book a jab direct if he's in the eligible category, which it sounds like he is.
Csarina, lovely quilt. I've been on a hiatus while L, B and E are with us for several reasons. I've got little time and Laura is looking to make reusable sanitary towels so is busy making prototypes (I've been helping) at my sewing table.
Laura had as good a day as she could I think given the constraints. We went for a walk in the sunshine and Brian had ordered a meal box from a posh Italian. It was very tasty and I had made her a curly whirly cake, which contrary to the name doesn't contain curly whirlys.12 -
Afternoon everyone,
I've just been having a catch up while little one has her nap - DD is picking her up at 2pm as I have an appointment for blood tests. We had a lovely walk this morning - no accidents this time - she remembered where she fell the other day and held my hand. Yesterday I remembered I'd bought some balloons and a balloon pump - I blew her one up and she was having a great time throwing and kicking it. Until biggest cat walked through, leapt up in the air, burst the balloon, jumped back on sofa and went back to sleep - leaving little own howling! The next one got put away in the cupboard when she'd finished playing with it - poor child kept saying ' bad cat hurted pink balloon'
Work tomorrow morning and Friday morning13 -
Afternoon! I was up super early but I've been drifting form thing to the next so far today. I've drilled two holes in the wall to hang a new extension lead behind the cooker, signed up for a project management course, sorted my bits and pieces of post for the last month, cleaned the kitchen and read some book. The online thing with Judi Dnch is at five not twelve as I originally thought, no idea why it would stick at twelve in my head. Possibly will attempt to make some beanburgers tonight. Bins have been collected and taken back inside so that's about it for today...Happy Birthday Scarlet, hope it is and continues to be a good one. Hope it's your last visit too! Nanny, that's no way to diet, just so you know you know....:) congrats on your jab and you too Nelski...i know it sounds a bit weird to say congrats but I couldn't think of another way to say...yayy? Gers, my parents were the same, nothing in the war years so they collected various things to have things. I understand it, but I wish they hadn't. Or at least given some thought as to what w're supposed to do with them now. Glad you're feeling better AOD. Bella, Monna, I did Latin at school, and as Monna says, it was and still is a real help with English. Maybe ask around in case someone can use them? Csarina, well done on your quilt, so much pecision sewing and cutting! dumpling hope your sister has a good result from their plan and doesn't need drastic surgery. So many people with serious illnesses, hugs to you all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12
