HTB and RCI banks

Hi there
I'm looking to open a savings account at one of the above banks as they're offering 0.4% for an easy access account but just wondered if anyone uses them or knows what they're like? I've never heard of either of them. Thanks for looking.

You could try the likes of TrustPilot if you're looking for anecdotal reports from anonymous strangers on t'interweb, or alternatively might be better served by one of the 0.5% accounts at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest/#easyaccess (or premium bonds....)1

Both HTB and RCI are perfectly good banks, with FSCS protection. Their interest rates aren't market leading though, as per above. Also, RCI online access is a bit of a PITA to get set up.1

1. If you want to find the best savings rates in safe banks and building societies have a look here..

2. To see what people think of them google
"htb bank reviews" "rci bank reviews uk"
Hope this is of help to you.

Both my wife and myself have accounts with RCI and they are fine. The rate has dropped to 0.4% but whose hasn't and it's not worth changing to a new provider. We both regularly put in and withdraw money and it works well, although the withdrawals are not instant, it takes a few days to hit my current account.0

For the sake of a tiny bit of interest, my preference would be to use a bank that I've heard of. These boards are littered with problems that people have encountered because they deposited money in an obscure bank that was desperate for funds.0

RCI are the finance arm of Renault, who you probably have heard of. I have some money in their 95 day account, though my account will be closed in April. Never had any problems with them, but you can get slightly more interest elsewhere.0

RCI, formerly called Renault Crédit International.
Opened a 1.90% 5 yr bond with them last April/May. No problems whatsoever.

I have used RCI before and never experienced any issues. As others have pointed out their rate is not market leading and if you're going to the effort of opening an account, why not open one offering 0.5%?
Out of those offering 0.5% currently my preference would be Marcus.0 -

I’ve had an account with them for a few years ... probably for longer than the engine in my Laguna lasted, actually ...
. Seriously, though, as has been said, withdrawals take a couple of days to hit, and there are better rates elsewhere (I’ve got a couple of quid in my account just to keep it ‘live’ -and I may well make it active again if they put rates back up in the future)
