Hi all,
About to remove a load bearing wall - have the structural engineers design and planning approval (it was part of a much larger renovation but have decided to just open up the kitchen and dining room) and will be using qualified and insured tradesman. Do I need separate insurance/is there such a thing? Had a look at a couple of home insurers (esure and admiral) and loss or damage to buildings are not covered when caused by structural changes. Not too fussed about cover for damage of contents, just the house falling down! Maybe I'm being overcautious..
Thanks

Your contractors should have appropriate insurance for damage they cause and similarly your engineer have Professional Indemnity if their calcs were wrong. Home insurers don't want to become jointly liable with your contractors/engineer hence most policies exclude whilst structural changes are being made.
There are specialist policies available, if you search this forum another member commented on a similar topic recently and then came back to say they'd bought an appropriate policy.0
