  • Ergh. I'm waiting for movement with barclays, via broker. Hard search conducted in late Nov. Paperwork requested every week, with a 3 day wait each time. Was told offer will be made monday but they requested something else. So annoyed. I'm in london too, had a desktop valuation on the house but sellers are worried about our offer. Ergh. Can't do anything till offer comes in. Barclays is rubbish

Does anyone know if Barclays do the valuation as a final stage?  It appears I've already had the hard credit check.  Do you think they've done the financial underwriting?   Or could the valuation come first?
My hard search with Barclays was done at the DIP stage.
That seems very strange.  Everything I read says a DIP is only a soft search.  And my DIP was issued 2 working days before the hard search.  Although, Experian kinda links the hard search to the date the application went in also.  I was really hoping that as I havent heard anything since the credit search and the valuation went ahead today, I'm on track ...?  They wouldnt proceed with the valuation if the finances weren't OK and the credit search was a concern would they?

Did you apply direct or via a broker?

They do a heard Search a lot earlier via a broker I believe.

we received our offer today
Took 8 days from full application to offer
Fantastic news! Delighted for you.  You must be delighted.  I hope I have the same success.  DO you know what checks they did in that final day following the valuation?

I’m not sure if it differs if you’re using a broker or not... however when I was at the stage of waiting for the mortgage offer I was Googling as much as possible and from what I found out, Barclays is one of the few that do the hard search at the DIP stage.

Thanks, now the long wait for solicitors to do their part!

They couldn’t have done much as valuation was the day before offer. So would assume it was the final check they needed. Fingers crossed yours comes very soon!!
  • I wish we hadn’t gone with Barclays. We applied on 15th January and we are still waiting for a mortgage offer. They carried out the valuation already and they downvalued the property. We then renegotiated with the seller and our mortgage broker submitted a form of the change in value nearly 3 weeks ago now. Barclays are constantly saying they’ll review the form by COB tomorrow but they’ve been saying that all week. I’m really beginning to lose patience. How long does it take to review a single form???
