Credit card protection for goods stolen within 90 days of purchase

Hello,
I'm really hoping someone on this site can help answer my question as I am getting nowhere with Sainsbury's Bank
I purchased 2 saddles using my Sainsbury's Mastercard which cost £4000. Approximately 3 weeks after purchase my tack room was broken into and all my stuff was stolen (to the value of £8k). The police were involved but said there was little chance of getting anything back, and as the goods were stolen from an outbuilding, I could only claim £2k through my home insurance.
I read somewhere that if goods purchased with a credit card are subsequently stolen within 90 days, it may be possible to claim the money back via the credit card provider (I can't see anywhere in s75 that deals with this), but I wondered if anyone knew if there was any protection and if so could you point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

It sounds unlikely. You'd need to ask Sainsbury's if they offer that as a benefit.0

Certainly not anything under S75. It is just card providers own good will in reality.
I know it's bolting the door after the horse has been stolen. But should you not have a seperate policy to cover the stables?Life in the slow lane1 -
Some credit cards offered protection for loss or damage within 90 or so days but usually not for items that are stolen, and almost all of them have withdrawn it anyway.
It's not a legal protection, it was just an insurance policy perk offered by some cards. You can check your cards T&C's but I'd be very surprised if they offered it.1 -
The only one I know of offering such protection is American Express but even then it's limited to £2500 with a £50 excess.

I'd be amazed if any Mastercard credit card offered better than that (or even equalled it), unfortunately.1 -
Sadly I think you were under-insured - and have no way to claim anything back from Sainsburys credit card - I've taken one out, and there's nothing visibly in the terms and conditions that would cover this. It's extremely unfortunate that you experienced a burglary, and lost such a number of items, and I mean this in the right way, without being derogatory - this is an expensive lesson in insurance that you'll learn from, and won't repeat again. We all think it won't happen to us, and then it does. The important thing though is that it was 'Stuff' - you, your family or friends didn't get physically harmed. 'Stuff' is expensive - but 'Stuff' can be replaced (eventually).3
