A common feature on the vent board, I know. This vent isn't related to poor untimely delivery though, it's about how utterly insane they are!!!
Citylink delivered a parcel to me on Monday. Because I work, I wasn't in and can't get deliveries at work as I work in a big hospital. When I got home, I checked my email to find that a second parcel was en route, due to be delivered the next morning.
I rang up Citylink and said can I come and collect parcel 1 from you on my way to work? Yes Mrs Ribena, they said. All well and good. Okay, so while I'm at your depot, can I collect parcel 2, which is also currently at your depot? NO, Mrs Ribena, they said. We know you're actually going to be in our depot at the same time as your second parcel, but we are unable to let you have it UNTIL WE'VE TAKEN IT ALL THE WAY TO YOUR HOUSE WHERE YOU WON'T BE IN AND BROUGHT IT ALL THE WAY BACK HERE AGAIN EVEN THOUGH YOU WILL BE STOOD ABOUT SIX FEET AWAY FROM WHERE YOUR PARCEL ACTUALLY IS.
Oh, says I. That seems a bit daft - surely I could save you the time, trouble and fuel? No, says them - we can't be bothered to go look on the van to retrieve your parcel, although we know which van it's on and what shelf it's on and everything, it would still mean we had to look through all 8,000 parcels in the entire depot to retrieve yours. Errr no you wouldn't says I, not if you actually know where it is? Sorry Mrs R, we'd still have to look through EVERY SINGLE PARCEL BY HAND to find yours so tough titty.
Hurrah for Citylink! They do like to keep their customers happy don't they - now not only have they had to do an unnecessary journey, depleting the ozone layer a little further, so have I

Completely agree - had the same problem, wanting to pick up a parcel before they delivered. Trying to get it sent to the wife's work was nearly impossible, and the depot is in Scunthorpe, I live in Lincoln. And I basically pass the depot in Grantham most days on the way to work, but they can't send it to that one either! Grrr!
TNT deliver from East Midlands Airport, which is past Nottingham! Someone needs to setup a courier company that deliver evenings/weekends...0
