Gutter Repair

Hi, I've had 2 quotes for a gutter repair and both seemed expensive to me. The joint between 2 sections has come apart, the roof is 3 storeys so approx 9-10m high, but both quotes were based on using a ladder. Both companies are very local to me in London. The quotes were
1. £280 - this is not from a roofing company - they're landscape gardeners who pitched against a job I posted on a quote site, but claimed they could do the job. I wasn't filled with confidence by the guy who came around to look at it though.
2. £370 from a professional roofing company - this is to remove and replace the joint.
Both seem pretty high to me (no pun intended). Does anybody have experience of similar repairs?
Thanks in advance!

let the gardeners do gardens not guttering & if they didn't fill you with confidence then stick with your own gut feeling. But £370 for replacing a joint is a lot even for London. I would try local sole traders not ltd companies as they always charge more. Either way i would get at least 1 more quote.

I'm doing my own, was quoted a thousand pounds for one morning's work, replacing gutters and using capping boards, and £750 to replace gutters without capping boards, which, I have since found out, are fine.If the joint is coming off the wooden fascia its attached to, it's a sign of rot, and there could be a lot more trouble up there.Go on YouTube and study the subject so as they don't fob you off with half a job.I've taken the gutters off, put capping boards on, put the gutters back painted, with new joints, and nailed eaves trays under the bottom row of tiles where the felting had rubbed off over the years and let water in.None of the guys I spoke to were interested in mending the root cause of the problem. Useless, the lot of 'em!It's not a hard job to replace one joint but it may need reinforcement for the fixings to attach.0

From what I can see from the ground, the brackets still seem fixed to the fascia, it just looks like one of the 2 gutter sections has come loose. It could be a problem with the bracket itself, the gutter section, or both, but either way it doesn't look there's a problem with the fascia.0 -
The height is an issue. Maybe they want danger money.

Roofers seem to want £100 to go up a ladder and to be honest, I can’t disagree as it’s a job I wouldn’t want!!I’ve found a roofer after getting ripped off who will do the off repair as a favour, but I think only because he is doing a few K worth of work replacing some other roofing for me. It definitely feels like a huge skill shortage in the uk.Good luck!April 2020 - £102,222 Loans/CC’s.
