This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark but dry and mild.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken - some LO's so will need to decide what I'm going to do with that to make a meal.
Back to work today - we'll see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, hope you hear something soon.
Great day yesterday, no rain and some sunshine. Washing dried outside, fruit trees planted, various other plants put in the ground that have been hanging about since before Christmas and lots of general tidying up. Had a chat with the next door neighbours who I haven't really seen for months and caught up on their news. I really didn't want to come in but it was getting dark and a bit chilly!
Back to work for me today, it'll be a long week! I spoke to DGS yesterday, he's very excited to be going back to nursery but his big sister has to stay home for a while longer.
Well done on the walk Ruby, take it easy.
Hope you're feeling better dumpling.
Hugs to anyone in need.
Right, off for a shower, time to put on some real clothes and get out of the door in time, don't want to be late for the first day back!
Take care. XX14 -
Morning folksCamelot - you'll be exhausted by 3pm though I'm sure you'll be glad to be going back.Yesterday I collected the new towels so they got a first wash. That was after I did a bedding load and an assorted load. For a while the place resemebled a laundry though all is dry now. There's still my bedding to get done today. Apart from that there are no plans here!Since I bought DM a new phone her crossword friend has been galvinised into once again thinking about moving away from his now very old non-smart phone and into the 21st century. I've sent him a slew of information about phones, contracts and porting his number, think he's a tad overwhelmed, I hope he follows through this time.Whoever suggested that I keep the lovely ancient rug for my own car was spot on, I hadn't even thought of that so it's a brilliant suggestion. Thanks. When I was working and travelling an awful lot I kept a single duvet in the boot which came in very handy when I broke down once on the A69 in the middle of winter. It kept me cosy until the AA arrived. As I've resolved to not buy anything apart from groceries in March I've done an avalanche of orders over the weekend. I know, it probably defeats the purpose of the March challenge but it gives me a goal and a challenge. Now it's time for the first cuppa of the day. I hope that everyone is doing well, if you're struggling then my thoughts are with you.Happy Monday to all.13

Morning
Thank you for your advice on age. Not sure I have more sense. But temper tantrums sound good, I might start now, lol.
Along with staring at craft things for inspiration, I also squish yarn. But that doesn't work either, lol.
I've decluttered a few more things, including two people. They've always voiced a mistrust of anything official, but have pretty much kept their views hidden until this virus appeared. One rants about stuff all the time, the other is a full on conspiracy theorist, flat earth, 5G, chip in vaccine, etc etc. Can't reason with that type and I won't be drawn into arguments about it so I just stopped contact.
Last year we bought wood to replace the rotten front fence but didn't get round to putting it up – not sure why, it's not like we didn't have the time, lol. Yesterday we ripped the old boards down, replaced the horizontal beams and nailed in new feather edge. Luckily the posts were OK so they didn't need replacing, not having to wait around for concrete to set made the job a lot quicker. It looks so much better now.
TravellingAbuela I hope Sparkle is back to her normal self soon xx
dumpling Glad to hear you're home xx

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.It's raining here, but doesn't seem cold. The car is going for MOT this morning so DH will walk back from the garage after he's left it, about 2.5 miles, I might go with him for the walk. He'll get the bus back to collect it when it's done.We went out yesterday for a walk, it was such a nice day. Things are starting to shoot away in the garden, really, we should have got out there yesterday to tidy, but it'll get done.Thinking of the poorly people, and those struggling with life, also Sparkle, hope she picks up a bit TA.No more news from here, so I'll wish everyone a happy Monday - take care folks.13

Morning all, no actual news but I got dressed yesterday, though I did need a tiny bit of help.
Raining but mild, gradually the garden us coming to life, I am looking forward to spring.
Tru, I'll be 70 in 3 months, I shall leave the acting like a grown up until then.
Dumpling, hope all is well.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning everyone
Camelot - you'll be shattered by the end of the week, I expect I'll be following you back into working full time in a couple of weeks. depending on what Boris says tonight.
Day to myself today, Dads new hub is due to arrive so I'll go down and organise that for him - he's looking forward to getting back to his horse racing!
I am picking little one up from nursery at 4 and she is staying the next 2 nights as DD is working night shift - I think she'll soon go off that idea, but we'll see!
Raining at the minute but it's meant to brighten up later.
Hope everyone has a good day today12 -
Morning
Bit of a frosty start here, not outside but in my shower. Sometime last week I must have clicked the water off when I had boiler issues so whilst I got a few days of stored water in the tank for the week this morning I jumped in the shower (well my version of "jumped" ) turned it on and I swear they would hear the screams in the next town. Question was do I stay and suck it up or get out go downstairs turn the heat on and wait an hour or so for it to heat up. As I was already wet I opted to stay for the fastest shower ever. great start to the day should have just gone back to bed
Few washes to do today including the dreaded bedding, plus DW and kitchen tidy. Otherwise its the usual nothing much.
Leftovers for dinner
Camelot hope your first day back goes well
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning, hugs if you need one.........
Its a very grey morning, DB thinks it has rained, the colour of the sky says there is more to come.
There was quite a bit of meat on the chicken crown I cooked yesterday, I will take the rest of the meat off and use the carcass for stock. I will slice it for supper tomorrow. I need to use up the sausage I did not cook on saturday.
I completed sewing the single block rows of the quilt together yesterday now I have to sew the rows together, I must be mad, lots of seams the match.....may be will just sew two together each day and then the final towards the end of the week. Borders, to have and if so what cannot decide until I have the thing together and I can measure it.
I have to phone and see when the council can collect the bed base and then try and get delivery of the new bed either on the same day or the next. Mind you iy we had still been living in the city and we had put it outside the back gate by the morning it would have gone........I never had to go to the tip with anything when we lived there!!
I also need to think about the cooker, Curry's have it in stock, really need to wait until after 20th March to order it, then have to sort out a plumber to connect it for me. I also need to see if it can be hard wired or if I have to get a 15amp socket installed.
DB is chaffing at the bit, he is desperate to get into the garden, 'not today Josephine' its too wet.10 -
Morning ! Raining today, but that's good because I need to empty the tomato pots of the dessicated compost and throw it on the big raised bed. I also need to distribute some homemade compost around the front garden. I'll leave myself the week to work up to that one, don't want to peak too soon. Just seen the next door neighbour on his first look-out of the day. He comes outside, walks briskly across the drive, peers down the road, and back again. Sometimes he opens his car door, looks inside, then shuts it again. Endlessly fascinating which should just tell you I need to find a better hobby. Which reminds me, the poncho might well end up a blanket, I always over estimate how large something should be, this thing is taller than me.And the cake actually came out properly so nanny, you are welcome to a piece. It's like the best custard slice ever but with choux type pastry. The milk mountain has been a bit depleted in readiness for more tomorrow. Only two pints in there now with the option to use some up for muesli and tea today. And the pork roast yesterday will yield another one today with the addition of some cabbage so no cooking today!!! Yay!!Nels,I'm afraid I laughed. On the odd occasion when the shower runs cold I scream like a banshee so although I laughed, I also commiserated. That'll certainly get anyone jumping. I tthink you shoud pretend it's Sunday again after that fright. And well done for staying in there! Nuh uh,not me....Hope it's not too bad today camelot. Gers, dragging them kicking and screaming into the 21st century, I like it. If my father and mother had discovered instant messaging they wouldn't have been off the phones. Scarlet, hope it passes! enjoy the walk...AOD, conitinued healing wishes..Nanny, what's occurrin'? tru well done on your decluttering. It always amazes me that people can go batsh*t crzy about stuff. It's like, mate, if they wanted to track you, you've got a phone, it's that simple. Csarina, try your bed base on freecycle, the wood would be good for kindling. I will away now and make like I'm being useful somehwere....Stay alert, your country needs lerts...Made me laugh when I first saw that poster in Woolies about 36 years ago...But anyway, have as fun as you can wring out of the day...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10
