Economy 7 switch wiring

Hoping someone with electrical know how can assist! Apologies for the length.
I have economy 7- the boiler and storage heaters are each wired into 2 electrical sockets that can switch on and off. The boiler switches are always in the on position, but illuminate orange when active. Until recently the boiler off peak switch came on and off every night as expected.

I had a boiler repair carried out last month where immersion heater elements and the main circuit board were replaced. Ive had the storage heater switched on throughout (off peak only) and everything seemed ok.
This week, I switched the storage heater off fully, and noticed the orange light of the off peak boiler switch was on all day. Randomly, if I switch the storage heater back on (off peak only), then the light of the off peak boiler switch turns off. I’m not sure if the boiler is actively heating 24 hours a day, or if this is just a light display issue. Im manually switching the off peak switch on and off daily to make sure I don’t end up with a huge bill!
I’m not sure if this is a random failure, or linked to the work the boiler repairer did (he poked about with a lot of the switches and wires when testing the repair). The switches are on the outside of the boiler cupboard, and there are also 2 outlets (blank) and another random switch inside the cupboard, plus a lot of random wires. Electricity meter is outside the apartment.
I’m hoping this is an easy fix and I can fix myself or cheaply with an electrician.
Note: I dont want to reach out to the boiler repair person, as I since found out he tried to rip me off by faking a boiler leak and wanted me to drop 2k on a new boiler, days after spending 500 on the repair. He also told me he wouldn’t come out to check any issues without me paying a hefty call out fee.

Regret to say that from your post, it's highly unlikely that anyone on the forum will be able to diagnose and fix the problem. You really do need an Electrician - ask around to try and find an honest tradesman0

Strange that you have a boiler when you have storage heaters. They tend to be mutually exclusive: you only have a boiler when you have wet radiators; if you have storage heaters you'd have a simple immersion heater on the night rate for hot water. If you have a genuine boiler then E7 is probably unsuitable because the boiler will be working in the day on the expensive day rate.Much more info needed, with model names and pics.0

I wonder if 'boiler' in this case = hot water cylinder with immersion heaters?

That's what I thought, but I haven't seen a hot water cylinder with a main circuit board, and the £500 and £2k figures seem to be well into boiler territory. We'll have to await the pics.MWT said:I wonder if 'boiler' in this case = hot water cylinder with immersion heaters?0 -

You might if it's an electric boiler, such as one of these:MWT said:as you also don't repair a boiler by working on the 'immersion heater elements'.

I would still say that the immersion heater elements are in the cylinder not the boiler... ...but the OP can resolve this with more details, not much we can do until then...
