Iva & DLA

I am in my 2nd year of my IVA and everything has been really good. Payments increased at annual review which wasnt a problem and Payplan have been amazing! My daughter has just been awarded DLA - We also get an increased amount of Tax credits. My husband is applying for carers allowance for her.

I know I have to declare it to Payplan which isnt an issue but will they count this as income? The money isnt our income but to pay for her additional needs. Ill call them up tomorrow and discuss it with me case manager but has anybody else on here got any experience?

People usually include DLA in their income, and have an equal amount in their expenditure for care costs, so it basically balances out.

I can't see that daughter's DLA can be counted unless she and her debts are part of the IVA

The Carers Allowance is income. In order to receive that your husband must be on a very low income (£100 per week-ish* - can't be bothered to look it up). Is that the case? If he is on UC, the CA just gets deducted and the only gain is Carers premium.

I take it that your daughter lives with you and is under 18.

    Edit: £128 per week
  • Yes should does and she is 8. He isnt on any benefits but only works 5hrs per week.
