TopCashback selling emails to scam companies?

Over the last month me and the other half have suddenly been getting a lot of scam emails, all sorts. Sometimes up to twenty a day, I've now removed the accounts from windows email because the notifications kept popping up. They are now constant, everyday.

They are Virgin Media email address's and the only place we have used them together is with TopCashback, which we both used towards the end of last year.
It can't be a coincidence because I have other Virgin email address's setup and they never get spam emails, only the two setup with TopCashback accounts.

Of course it can.  And it probably is.  Read their privacy policy, that will give you a clear indication of what they can and cannot do with your data.
  • They won't be selling the emails. There are data hacks all the time with recent and valid email addresses available for free and to buy for mega cheap on the darknet. Topcashback are legit. They could have had a data breach themselves though. Cashback sites have been hacked before with user details released so definately possible.
