Cash Deposit Cash Machine - Santander

I am getting fed up of queuing at the post office to deposit cash, my local Santander have a cash deposit cash machine, which is really convenient but i am not a customer.

Does anybody know if you can just open a simple Santander savings account and deposit cash through the machine this way? I don't really want to open another current account you see.

Minimum opening and account balance of £1, the maximum balance at any time is £2 million. Deposits can be made at any time via standing order, one-off payments or online transfers.

Does not sound like you can pay in via a machine. As above you could always open a current account. However bank branches are being withdrawn all over so no way to tell it will be there for long.

As long as the account has a cash card, I don't anticipate any issues. I'd try it out for you, but all the branches near me have closed - I have use the Post Office!!!
