Car garage fees

Options
Hi, I’m hoping I can get some good advise on here.
We have a Nissan van 13 plate which developed a fault.
We took this van to a Nissan van for diagnosis and repair around 8 weeks ago.
The fault came back as a faulty pipe, which the garage resolved. On journey home, the same fault appeared. Back to garage, apparently the pipe wasn’t fitted correctly. Another 15 miles later same fault. This time a new injector and regen required. To this point we have now spent in excess of £700.
Pick van up, same fault appeared. By this point, we are quite annoyed. Husband called garage up. Our reply was take the van out for around 100 miles and see if it settles. Husbands reply was,  not a chance. The warning light on dash board has now gone from Amber to red.
After many failed call backs, the garage agreed to come and take our van away.
But... the technician goes off sick on our pick up day!
A valeter from garage turns up to drive van to garage. Husband reminds him that the van is not roadworthy. Valeter insists it’s ok.
Later in the day we get told that the booster has now flooded along with another injector gone and need another regen, to the cost of around £1000.
We feel totally cheated and feel that the garage should actually pay the bill, given all the above.
I’m hoping someone on here can give us sound and reasonable advise.
We are truly gutted as we thought by going to the correct garage things would get fixed quicker.
Please help. 😥😥🤦‍♀️🙏

It's difficult to know what to suggest, when you're using terms that make it hard to figure out what you're talking about.

I'm guessing this is a DPF issue?
Sounds like they've started from the DPF, now finding that one or more fuel injectors are faulty? "Booster" = turbo?

Fault codes are not always authoritative, and one fault can mask another. Without a lot more detail, it's impossible to figure out.

Sounds like they are clueless. Problem is that while they are trying to mend one thing they normally break something else so the more you take it back the worse it gets. Only solution is to DIY. You couldn't be worse than the garage.

Knowing my car mechanical knowledge is very limited my safeguard is the AA.  However, looking at your situation, the garage made a significant mistake when, despite your warning, the driver drove it with the red light on.  Basic car care was ignored.
You took it to a Nissan garage.  Send Nissan customer care a letter, recorded delivery, setting out the issue.  Also email  , and after 3 days ring to follow up.  Say you will contact trading standards and advise you are considering asking for help from media.  Avoiding adverse publicity can be a great motivator.
There are some knowledgeable people on LegalBeagles forum.  I suggest posting there asap.
  • Yes it was DPF originally. We assume that the booster would be the turbo.

Thank you for this. We feel that the garage has let us down by driving it to their garage.
Thank you for your advice. Will take a look at legalbeagle now.

I have just done a quick Google.  The law of shipment might apply here.  I haven't tech savvy to give a link but look for daslaw.co.UK and search car repairs.  I'm making it a favourite 😁
