O/S Daily Sunday 21 February 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning folks.Yes, more rain here though the coldness has gone.Yesterday's annoyances have left me. 😀 in the global scheme of life a broken hand mixer doesn't even get a rating. This morning my pleasure was in emptying the DW, it always feels so satisfying as I appreciate that I've not had to hand wash any of it. Small mercies are being taken gladly. This morning I'm going out briefly. I ordered two new hand towels for myself. DM has an assorted collection of ancient towels which are now worn out. The middles are so thin that holes are appearing whilst the edges are still lovely.I don't think that DM has bought new towels, kitchen knives or pots / pans since before the flood. There's at least one small saucepan I recognise as coming from my beloved Dads home when he died in 1997, it doesn't have much non-stick lining left. Even then the pan was originally part of the marital home set up in the early 60s when Dad was demobbed. Much as I really admire such thrift in these days of such conspicuous consumption there has to be a line somewhere. I found the line! There's a new pile of paper to scan and then shred. I'm still waiting for my new laptop, perhaps it'll come this week. The bedding is in the washing machine waiting for a decent time to start it going. I've gently observed to one neighbour about the loudness of his terrible singing and guitar singing so don't want to make an early noise. I hate having neighbours so close by.Anyway, my thoughts are with all those struggling for any reason. I hope that Dumpling was discharged and is back being looked after by the family.Happy Sunday to all.13

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but damp underfoot due to rainfall during the night but not raining at the moment. Still mild though.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 enjoying a lie-in. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was takeaway pizza - very nice it was too - not very often we have it from there but was good although expensive. Lunch today will be roast chicken etc.
Keep safe and well x

Morning! Grey but dry today. I didn't get up early enough to write anything yesterday then spent most of the day watching various people talk about stuff related to house building/renovation. some of it was interesting, some of it was not, but only because it won't be relevant not because it was in itself boring if you see what I mean. Today I have to fit pork Sunday dinner in amongst various video chats, last count 3. It's feast or famine here. Everyone comes along all at once. But there's pork crackling in my future so I'll be happy with that! I'm making a cake to try and use up some of the milk too. I have cut down the order but it's still too much. This one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTRvcNQdsss because I'm staying off carrot cakes.Personally, I decided to stop growing up at 35, but the rest of my body hasn't listened so far and at 52 it is STILL ageing! imagine! I think I'm in the generation when we're not quite one thing or the other. We're too young to be old, but we haven't got a clue how people managed to be adults before. So we kind of make it up as we go along.csarina, I still haven't worked out what DB was so I looked at google. It threw some things back that I'm fairly sure it isn't. And that was an education in itself...So I ask everyone, what does it stand for? Woop woop Nelski! vaccine! yay! Ruby, your pasta sounded nice. Your poor mum, she sounds shell shocked. TA, I think it's the effects fo the third lockdown, no one can see a proper end in sight, I think everyone and their dog is having a wobbly this time round. You are not alone. AOD, don't go all stronger than strong, take the painkillers [ as long as there isn't some kind of reaction I don't know about, like you turn into a dragon or something] and maybe if you can take it, get some ibuprofen, it'll help with inflammation. Gers, I'd be amazed if you didn't have a wobble now and again. I did laugh at the gall stones though. Just in case! That has to be the worst answer ever to something that was never going to come in useful except as gory time show and tell. Right, on those happy notes, I will arise etc...Stay safe, stay as sane as you can.....Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...13

Good morning everyone
I came home at 1pm yesterday back into the loving arms of my family. I am so pleased to be back home I can't tell you. I had a very bad night though with pain as I only have paracetamol here and in the hospital I was on oramorph so a bit of a difference. Never mind, I tell myself that every day i will get better and I couldn't have a better nurse than Steve.
I have lost some mobility after being in bed all that time so today i will be going up and down the stairs a few times to increase my stamina. I also plan to potter from room to room every couple of hours so I don't seize up entirely. Jemima is coming to see me this afternoon so I am looking forward to a cuddle. Apart from that I am going to enjoy being looked after while I recover.
Chicken curry for dinner tonight and I am going to have cauliflower rice with mine as it is urgent that I lose weight . Recent events have proved that being this fat has majorly impacted on my life and any medical options I have. It is very sobering to be presented with your third Do Not Attempt Resuscitation form in 2 years. I was very conscious of the nursing staff potentially hurting themselves just shifting me around. I hope I have enough time to make a difference to my life.
Anyway, hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing, better times are coming I am sure. Take care xx

Dumpling, don't you have access to a dietician at the hospital to help you and Steve meal plan properly for you? It's easy to fall into eating the same as everyone else when it's not their health on the line...
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. No rain here yet but apparently it will be here later. The bonus is it's still feeling much milder.
It will be the usual Slothful Sunday for me. Even though every day is the same now I somehow dislike Sunday more than any other day. I'm still in the throes of working through all the bits and pieces in the freezers so lunch today will be some roast beef in gravy that's currently defrosting. I'll have the usual veg with it as well as roasties. Highlight of my day!
GERS Sparkle isn't doing much jumping around since our trip to the vet. He increased the strength of the steroid injection to see if it's effects delayed the allergy erupting a bit longer this time. She is moping around looking quite morose so I think it's knocked her for six a bit. I don't like to see her like this as she's usually on the lookout for trouble! She's eating and drinking ok so I hope this is short lived. Incidentally I'm as bad as your DM for hoarding, I still have the clips that were put in when I had a cyst removed from my thyroid in 1970 when I was 24!! In the same keepsake box is a length of hair cut off when I went from long hair to short when I was 12!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, convalescents, insomniacs, sad, worried or just p***d off. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning All
Glad you're home dumpling, you seem to have the mindset to get well again. Enjoy being looked after.
Hope the little one is ok after her tumble dp1.
It just goes to show utensils were made to last Gers!
I had a lovely walk yesterday and was all ready to do some jobs in the garden when it started to rain. It didn't let up all day and the wind was the strongest it's been for a long time. I had to go out this morning and rescue the bins, they were all over the place. Anyway, this morning looks more promising.
I walked home past Aldi yesterday and saw they had fruit trees for sale so I took the car and bought some. I'll be going out for compost this morning so I can plant them in my new pots. Don't really want to put them in the ground yet as I'll probably change my mind as to where they shall go.
DW on and the WM can go on after my shower, may put the towels out for a blow. Have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX13 -
Morning everyone - I'm early for once!
I wanted to get my bedding in the washing machine as it is dry and windy here and I want it out on the line before I go down to mam and dads. I'll do dad's reply to eldest DD's email on my I pad as I did last week then send it when I get home. His new hub is due to be delivered tomorrow so I'll get it sorted for him. Also need to look at mam's kindle as 'I must have done something'!
Eldest DD is going to an aerial hoop class this afternoon - basically hanging upside down from a hoop suspended from a ceiling.....as a change from pole dancing! She has already found pole dancing classes for when she moves to Germany.
Little one was fine yesterday after her fall - she announced to DD 'me had accident' - pronounced very slowly as if for dramatic effect!
Well. I'd better make a move - hope everyone has a pleasant day13 -
Good morning, dry and bright here at present, conflicting weather forecasts though, hoping that OH does go cycling as it will be good for both of us to have a couple of hours to ourselves.
Lovely Salmon curry made yesterday and have a Curry Club cook along to look forward to later, except that I have not done anything on Zoom before and no one here to guide me, if I can just watch the demo it will be fine, I don't cook at the same time, arthritis makes me too slow.
I have some rather swish new cordless headphones which I have successfully connected to phone and tablet, but have a problem with the Bluetooth drivers on the lap top, working my way through possible solutions, but may have to decide between paying for work on ancient, but lovely laptop or investing in new kit as soon as computer gurus are able to do retail again. First world problems. Gers I am envious of your tech capabilities.
Dumpling so pleased that you are now home, I do hope that you are able to get your head around the reasons for your weight problems as well as the food aspect and get some help this time. Your family must be so happy to have you back with them. Thinking of Ruby, Marie, AOD, Sparklie cat and all that are having problems at the moment.
Take care all.

Morning all
Grey here but dry for the moment more rain due later I think, I have stripped the bedding and got that on a hot wash, OH will re-make the bed later.
I have got a small bit of lamb and a small bit of brisket out of the freezer for dinner today neither bit was big enough for us and mum but im hoping there will be enough for two days between them, I will do roasties veg and my beloved yorkshires with itI ordered a butternut squash with the shopping and its the size of a small banana so that wont feed us all !!
I went for a walk around the village yesterday took about an hour I really enjoyed it so will try and get out today again, I have noticed the weight creeping back on so need to shift it.
Mum coming for dinner tonight, its just as easy to cook for another one its just a couple more potatoes and some veg, mum will buy th meat next week.
Taff I dont know what DB is either, I would assume dear brother but I think its her OH she is talking about ???
Dumpling take care of yourself xx
Have good days all xx11
