Samsung microwave

Hi I bought a Samsung microwave from Very Feb 2020. So it's 1 year old this month. Cleaned it last month and there was no rust. A few days ago when putting my dinner in I noticed rust oozing into the inside through the vents at back  and rust nearly every edge of metal. Samsung says they won't cover a rust issue. But read up that if your machine is rusting in the inside then microwaves can leak from the machine. Very won't let me write a review of this issue. They claim it contains legal information.  What can I do to sort this machine out. My last microwave lasted 12 years and only reason I got rid was it looked outdated. No rust at all. Nothing in my house rusts. So this has to be a design issue.

Very are fobbing you off even with a review?  Well, your consumer rights are against them, not Samsung whose warranty is next to impossible to enforce even if it doesn't say anything about the rust.
IMO, even ignoring questionable point about microwaves leaking, rust after a year means that the oven isn't fit for purpose and any judge will agree.
Read the article and ask Very to replace the oven or refund you. I guess they will refuse. Write them a letter before action - a formal complaint stating your intention to pursue the matter through the courts. This costs you nothing.
Then, if they refuse again, you can submit an online claim to   Small Claims Court .
This will cost you £25-£35 - you decide if you want to take the risk. I'd do this on principle. IMO, Very will settle before the court.

  • Are you sure it's rust? It's 'oozing' through the vents?

My guess is that it's condensed water from cooking, mixed with the cooking residue. Look inside a normal oven that needs a clean - it'll tend to be brown. Give it a wipe - these are brown stains.

The Samsung oven will almost certainly be SS, although some of the outer parts could be galv'd steel. I just think it's very unlikely to be rusting.

Bought a new Panasonic a few years back plastic covering inside. But did rust away at an internal vent were the metal undercoating was.  Panasonic / John Lewis denied liability. Report stated not wiped down and dried after use and to leave door open for a while to let any condensation out.

Now have completely Stainless Steel. No problems.
