What does this schedule of restrictive covenant mean?

We are very close to completing and saw this note in the title.  We’ve asked our solicitor what it means in layman’s terms but whilst we wait; does anyone know?

Does it prevent us from building an extension or a separate annexe subject to planning?

Thanks everyone.

“Description of Buildings. No building whatsoever shall be erected on any plot or plots except a private dwellinghouse, or houses with or without a garage stable cycle house and greenhouse appurtenant thereto.

As and when houses are sold, any subsequent purchaser of any plot shall lay out and keep the ground around his house as a garden.”

    No, it doesn't mean that.

It's from before the house was built, restricting it to being housing land rather than being of any kind of commercial use.

It's saying only a house or houses to built there.  They can have garages, stables, cycle houses and greenhouses.  The land around the house should be maintained as a garden.  It's not restricting the size of the house or houses.

Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

This is a covenant? Dated quite a while ago, judging by the wording...

An extension is simply part of the "dwellinghouse", so well within the wording. A garden shed? Perhaps outside. Unless you keep your bike in it, then it's a "cycle house".

Either way, it's almost certainly academic. Who's the current beneficiary of the covenant? Will they know or care whether you have a bicycle in your shed or not?

The covenant is dated 1926.  The road the house is on is unadopted and named after someone who presumably owned it in 1926.
It is still unclear who actually “owns” the road.  It is something my solicitor is looking into.  None of the residents or vendor knows!  However, when the road needs repairing, all the residents on the road chip in with labour and materials to sort it out.

Seeing these old covenants is a glimpse into the past which I find very interesting.  I’ve attached part of it below:
