If you are both on UC you need to inform UC that he has moved in. You will be given instructions on how to link the two claims - you will both need to be involved in this. Your UC amount will then be calculated as a couple and only one of you will receive a payment so you will have to manage your money jointly. As a couple you will get less money than you previously got as two single claimants.
if you are responsible for Council Tax and currently get a single person discount you must inform the Council Tax team that you are no longer single.
If you claim Council Tax Reduction you also need to tell the local authority benefits teamInformation I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
We are both on universal credits but am on the housing benifits side to it the housing association For Housing have said it's ok he just needs to send a copy of his birth certificate in but he hasn't got any Id on him at all I got told off my family that all I have to do is declare it to the council that he is living here but I told for housing he hasn't any id we haven't been going out that long but he hasn't anywhere else to go I just want to do things properly but my family are saying he can live here without being on the tenancy but I can't be on my own due to my mental health0

It is unusual to be on Housing Benefit as well as UC. Is your housing some kind of supported housing? You really should tell your landlord if he has moved in. The Housing Association may also have a welfare benefits worker who can help you sort out the benefits.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. The housing benifits is part of the universal credit payments but i wasn't seeing this guy till recently and we just clicked but he's on uc but not registered for housing benifits but will his my bf told me all I have to do is let the benifits know that he is living here which I did and because he's not on the tenancy they said he's not on the teancy my family don't want him on the teancy but saying that he can still should be ok to live here just don't understand it at all and like I said can't I just tell my benifits that he's here as he can't get to his phone can he still ring up about doing a joint claim can't I just do it through my claim0

I moved him in and I don't know what am doing at all so if he's on universal credit we do a joint claim his phones not working so can I not tell them everything through my journal since it's in my name or can he just ring up am trying to do everything on my own I suffer with my mental health really bad and can't be on my own Details I can't go into for housing said it's ok for him to go on the teancy as a household member but need his birth certificate but he has not got any Id on him he left it at the place he lived before or he hasn't got one on him and plus he will need to sort his housing benifits out I just don't get it I told my mum and she said declare it to the council and my brother said that I can declare that he's living here but not on the teancy I don't know what am doing just trying to sort things on my own never done this before0

What what it is he changed his address over when I said he could move in here with me And I forgot to tell housing benifits straight away I got panic that I've moved him in here to he's not on the teancy but because I panic as part of my illness because never moved anyone in before and just want to do it properly his phone is broke so can't do a joint claim as he won't be able to receive a code don't think he put bf down but he does just look after me just wanted to declare that he was here to the housing I don't get stuff at all but it's me that told him to move in and don't know what am doing because don't think he told universal credit that we are girlfriend boyfriend and his phone is broke so either way if I put on my uc that my boyfriend has moved in with me because they send him a code do you know so he can read he's universal credit messages and can he ring them I just can't live on my own I don't know what am doing at all it just know am trying to sort it on my own and don't know what am doing0

i would also repeat that your tenancy agreement may not allow anyone else to move in.0
