Buyer pulled out after home survey from Countrywide surveyor

I'm beyond devastated today as our buyer pulled out. We have a beautiful bungalow that was purchased in 2019. And we still have the survey which shows the house can be made better but nothing major like damp or structural issues. So it came as a shock when our buyer was left devastated by his Home buyer Survey results from Countrywide. We do not see any damp or structural issues and the only reason for selling is to move next to family for support with our baby. If we would uproot this house and move it, we would do it in a heartbeat so this should tell you how much we love our home. Moreover the survivor was a young lad who was chatty and spent close to 2-3 hours just wandering around from room to room. Still shocked because now we can't move forward or challenge the survey results. We can get other independent surveyors to conduct the same and share with the buyer but apparently he lost trust. How can we show that our house is not crumbling to bits like mentioned by Countrywide Surveyors?

What did their survey actually say?
  • Are you sure the buyer didn’t just change their mind but cited the survey as an excuse? Has the EA told you specifically why they pulled out?
  • Have you been shown the report? Wat does it actually say?
How do you know the survey is the reason your buyer withdrew? Oh, right! That's what he told your estate agent.......
Can you challenge the survey? No. It's not your survey.

Did it actually say "crumbling to bits"?
Ask via the EA for a copy so you can see what can be fixed.
  • What did the survey say? Has the property been down valued and they can't afford it? Have they just got cold feet or found a better property?

How many surveyors didn't survive before this one worked his charms and managed to get out alive?

I've been told by my estate agent, that I have no right to see any surveyor report as it's not mine, neither does he. No doubt that this is true, but it means you are at the mercy of the buyers honesty.
  • I am terribly sorry.  My buyer also implied my house was falling down after his survey, and I will always regret not asking to see the relevant extracts.  Ask again for the EA to ask the buyer to supply the relevant extracts.  If the buyer refuses, then the survey has been used as an excuse.

You have no RIGHT to, no.

You could say that you won't negotiate over price following a survey without sight of the survey - that would be eminently reasonable.

But where the buyer's pulled out...? Nope, no right. He may just be using the survey as an excuse...
