    Depends on your overall asset allocation strategy maybe a mix but I wouldn't constrain yourself to only those that pay monthly income when you get so much more choice including those that pay quarterly income.

    It's not either/or. I've got both.
    Many IT's pay quarterly and haven't dropped their dividend for decades, though their share price can be volatile (but if you're not planning on selling, does that matter?).
    Take a look at their trade body The AIC and particularly their Dividend Heroes.  Be aware that there are ITs for all sorts of niches, not just for nice smoothed income.
