Good day in the office today - firstly because my manager had a good chat with me about priorities for the team/me going forward which has alleviated some of the stress I’ve been feeling the last few weeks. 

When I feel stressed and uncertain at work, it manifests as procrastination which only hurts myself as I end up doing everything in a rush and working in the evenings 🙈 so I’m glad that she was able to clarify certain things and reallocate some of our work (part of my stress was caused by feeling unproductive because most of my projects are in a limbo state, so I’m pleased she’s given me a couple of more rewarding projects for going forward). 

Secondly, and much more relevantly, she let me know that my pay increase has gone through! Won’t get it til April but it’ll be backdated to 1st March. 

My full time equivalent salary will be going up from £34 to £37k, so on my part time hours it’ll be just under £26k. BUT we are also getting a cost of living increase in April, amount TBC but it’s estimated that will be 5-6%. 

So the real salary should jump to £27k all in. I’ve worked it out and after tax etc it’ll be an extra £170 or so a month in my pocket all in, which should really help supercharge our savings goals this year and get that 6 month emergency fund 🤞🏼

Not only is it really good from a financial point of view but also reassuring to get good feedback in a time that’s felt stressful and uncertain 🙌🏼 at least I know my manager feels I’m managing fine.

As well as work, it’s been a busy evening - picked up Monkey’s wee friend with him from school for a playdate and just dropped him off home after dinner.

He was very well behaved but the kids are now wired as had too exciting a day 😂 they are in their room allegedly in bed but I can hear them moving about so will send Red up in a moment to do a scary dad impression 😂
