Roof extension / conversion dormer

Hi guys does anyone have any tips on how to find builders and keep the cost down thanks

    Keeping costs down is all in the planning and design.  Adjust the scale of it.

    Do not compromise on your builder. Don't pick the cheapest quote just because you have a budget.    You need a design to fit the budget, not the builder.

    thank you thats a great idea I didn't think of that.
    Do you have any recommendation on how to source a good builder, this is the part i find most challenging

    We always say via a personal recommendation. 

    If not, then I would use the Federation of Master Builders over the likes of anything like CheckaTrade.

    Builders are inspected and insurance details need to be provided every year.  There's access to decent contracts, membership isn't cheap and most don't join because of the Find a Builder service (it isn't well advertised), they join because they want to be seen as quality.

    thanks a lot, i've been down my street and asked neighbours and they have given me recommendations which has been a really good experience. First hand too and I can see the handy work of the builders as well
