The summers recently have been so hot I (and friends that call) head for the shade rather than burn.Though 'no sun' is tough because it's hard to make a garden. Could be an interesting challenge though. It's possible to do something creative.

Thanks! I'll leave the tree situation for now, and spend some time researching plants that might thrive well in shady areas (and survive my lack of green fingers!)0

Try hellebores for spring colour, plus all the woodland plants and foxgloves as long as you've got no-one who might chew them. And go for pale or bright flowers; the boring summer impatiens works as a bedding plant.
