Is there anything that can be done about Anglian Windows?

At the start of lockdown last year my mum finally got round to sorting out the roof guttering. She went with an expensive option of Anglian Windows and paid £5,000 to get the piping sorted around the whole house, due to the guarantee that came with it. When they finished the job, the front door wouldn't open to 90 degrees anymore but to only 60-70 degrees because of the way they left some piping above the front door. When the door accidently swung open it knocked the pipe out of position and it has to be reset with cellotape. She asked them to sort, lockdown happened. They said they couldn't. October/November they said there was nothing they could do about it, because of the positioning of the porch. Now due to the lack of space my dad is having difficultly actually fitting his wheelchair through the front door. Anglian have fobbed me off saying they cant do anything. Is there anyone I can escalate this with or try and get some resolution?

  • Given the immediate problem this is causing, I'd ask a local company to come out and take a look.  If they can fix it for a relatively small sum, you can then pursue Anglian for the sum.  Send Anglian a letter now, telling them that as they refuse to assist, this is what you're doing if they don't respond in 14 days.

They're presumably talking nonsense if the original guttering didn't cause the door problem.

Has the porch moved since they originally came to quote for the job? If not, I'd say that their surveyor or fitters have been fundamentally incompetent to plumb/gutter in such a way that a door now doesn't open. You'd expect that quality from a bodging DIYer, or some cowboy noname door-door conman.

If you are having access problems that they have caused by obstructing an exit from the building which could have consequences for someone with a disability, they might want to take it a little more seriously.

Otherwise it looks like Anglian are incompetent, and don't care.
