new micro payment offer for those on Managed payments

My offer says businesses only- but there may be different offers for private sellers, so check your dashboard. I haven't had an email, nor is there any banner headline, this just showed up on my dashboard as an offer to be activated:

https://cloud.forbusiness.ebay.com/low_cost_items_2021

This is the actual offer- so make sure it suits your business as it applies to all sales, so those with sales generally over the £10 this is not worth taking:

  • The Promotion FVF is calculated as 15% of the total amount of the sale (including shipping, taxes and any other applicable fees), plus a fixed charge of £0.05 per order. This will be applied automatically to all transactions during the Promotion Period and is independent of the item’s sale price and independent of the standard final value fee (“Standard FVF”).

  • Thanks for pointing this out Soolin.  :)
  • Deadline midnight tonight, eBay have offered me micropayments
Hi there, I've left this a bit late but the offer is as follows:
    *************************
    Promotion Period
The Low Cost Items Promotion (“Promotion”) will allow eligible sellers to pay a Final Value Fee of 15% + 5p (“Promotion FVF”) on all qualifying transactions for both new and existing listings for managed payments sellers. The transaction must take place via managed payments between 24th February 2021 and 31st December 2021 inclusive (“Promotion Period”).

    *************************
I remember all the discussions about PayPal micropayments and the calculation was about £9 cut off. Now eBays message to me said because most of my sales are sub £10 I've been sent the offer, however, I believe this figure to be only just under £10 (but wish there was an easier way to work out your average sale?) and also, I don't mind bunging 10 small items in a jiffy bag each day if it helps boost the bigger sales if you know what I mean. Also, it goes against the whole feeling of promoting cross sales and discounts for 1, 2, 3, items promotions , if you just want to keep sales under 9 or 10 pounds.

Any (urgent) thoughts appreciated ! :-)

I have merged the threads for clarity. The problem is with the offer is that all items will go onto the special rate, so it takes a mathematician to work out whether individual accounts will benefit or not. I’m winding down my store front for a while and my back on an envelope calculation suggests that with my accounts having A high percentage of sub £10 items it is of benefit to me to take the offer. Without a shop, and paying listing fees each month it might actually be worth me using one of my other business accounts just for higher priced items .

of course I might have just made a terrible mistake if later this year I reopen my shop and start selling high priced items !

  • Thank you Soolin. Don't you think eBay offering this to you by way of an email hinting it will be right for your account, flies in the face of personalized emails saying your items are perfect for muti item baskets and so you should use multi item discount (or whatever its called)?

I doubt EBay have any idea what is likely to be good for my sales, or not, they are too busy sorting out the glitches.

  • True. The other thing is, it is not simply an equation. If you're happy to do a proportion of small items because they're quick and easy and you're not bothered too much about the profit margin because they do generate some larger orders, then those sales my bring your average sale price right down. But the objective of your business is not to drive your average sale amount per se but to drive up the number of larger orders of the items you desire and to make those profitable.
