AST deposit registered three years late?

Why are you seeking this penalty? Has the landlord treated you badly or unfairly? Did they not do repairs, was the property a total dump?
Yes a mistake has been made and if they try to withhold your deposit unfairly then by all means make the claim. Surely if they return the deposit in full and in a timely fashion, you have suffered no loss?0 -
The Landlord was stupid and lazy to trust the Lettings agents to do there job but 3 years ago and even today anyone can set up as a Lettings Agents business.
So you get cowboys and fraudsters even now stealing from both tenants and landlords.
I would write to the Landlord at the address on your tenancy agreement and inform him/her about the lack of deposit protection and the penalties.
I do love the " There is no mortgage on the property bit and money rolling into the bank "
It is tough renting in London and about to get a whole lot tougher with thousands of Landlords selling up due to new laws, rules and regulations plus fire safety, tax changes and the Anti Landlord press and government.
Rogue Landlords and Nightmare Tenants is often filmed in London is it not0 -
elle1210 said:Thanks all! I emailed TDS to double check and it turns out they registered the deposit twice, and there are two certificates? Quite confusing as they only sent me one, hence the confusion. I assume you have to renew when your tenancy agreement renews? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
