robclark74 said:Final update. Made one more call to Amazon, got escalated to a manager as I said I wasn't prepared to send another email. Asked them if they had any kind of insurance/cover for the postal service they provided. Didn't answer the question and just said she'd process the refund and then got this email within 30 seconds. It's probably about 5-6 hours of time spent disputing over the phone and sending emails that I'll never get back and then literally resolved in a five minute phone call
This is ****** from amazon management team. I'm sorry to hear about the problem you've had with your 'Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G Sim Free Android Mobile Phone Mystic Black 256 GB (UK Version)'.
On this occasion we do not require you to return the original. You're welcome to keep, donate or dispose of it - whichever option is most appropriate and convenient for you.
Photos are always useful of anything you do. I'm lucky that I have a house full of CCTV and I tend to record the video of me packaging something expensive up, and taking it straight to the post office (of course I could remove it from the box on the way to the post office - but every little bit of evidence to show you've done the right thing helps - and even a photo of you packing the item in the box would be something on your side).0 -
People have posted here before about Amazon sending out empty parcels, and they weren't believed by some as apparently Amazon warehouse is mostly automated, so I'm not convinced there'd have been much difference both in the treatment by Amazon, and the treatment by forum members, had he bothered opening up the outside box.
Glad you got it resolved OP, and it's a shame that certain members of this forum prefer sticking the boot in rather than behaving in a professional and welcoming manner. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
I have exactly the same problem. Yes, third party seller. I have an assumption that there is an insurance policy between the third-party sellers and the Amazon for such cases, and they make good money on it.

Bet that's not a valid assumption .

Final note just in case anyone else is reading this thread in future... apologies to everyone out there who already knows this.Always, ALWAYS pay for an item costing over £100 and up to £30,000 with a credit card - not a debit card, PayPal, Google Wallet, or similar. This means that you have the protection provided by Section 75, Consumer Credit Act 1974 - you can read all about Section 75 on this site.If you don't know what S.75 is all about, go and read Martin's article about it NOW!0
