Any Trading 212 users had fraud on their cards?

Someone has stolen my debit card details and used them to try and buy various products online. The bank cannot say how they got the details, BUT I only use this card on trading 212, and a few other large companies. Has anyone else who uses trading 212 had any fraud on their card. To be clear I am not stating 212 is the cause of the fraud but my card has never been subject to fraud before and my spending pattens have been the same for years. The only new part is 212.

imho (and I know that I would be shouted down for writing this in some other threads) Trading212 falls a long way short of the professional standards that I would expect from a popular investment firm.
You need to be resolute when dealing with your bank as some banks will try to convince you that it's your fault or that you should pay.
  • No issues with 212 or otherwise here.

I did have an instance a number of years ago, and turns out a lot of people did where a card reader was installed on the cash machine at my local petrol station.  I found out by a text from my bank a couple of days after apparently my details were taken.

It might be worth tracking back where you have used the card say up to a week before the issue started to see if its something you could help protect against going forward.

What are these 'other large companies'? Being big doesn't make you more resilient to attack - quite the opposite in fact, being larger makes you more of a juicy target for phishing emails, legacy software with teams of developers, change control means slow to change and react to vulnerabilities, higher staff turnover and potential for 'unhappy' ex staff.

Check your email details here https://haveibeenpwned.com/
    You can also lookup passwords
Premium bonds, Royal Mail and perhaps Amazon.

I have a password manager so it was not the case o the password being exposed. I think it was an inside job.

RBS were actually very understanding and went through my bank statement for the last month confirming if I knew of each payment.

As a precaution I have cancelled all my cards and will now keep a record of transactions where I have to enter my card details onto a site. RBS checked the statement with me, the only things in the last month were Royal Mail and Trading 212. The card was seldom used.
  • I haven't used one of my credit cards to buy anything for years, I just use it occasionally for transfers, yet someone bought lunch with it in London a few weeks ago.  I wouldn't worry about it.  Report it and get the card replaced.  Never use your current accounts debit card online though.  Better that someone spends the banks money and not yours.
Think first of your goal, then make it happen!

Just had a similar experience in June 2024.
Card is cancelled and now I don't feel like depositing anything via their website.
An app offers Google Pay, hence I will probably try this eventually.

Card numbers follow a pattern and you can easily generate a "valid number" without having to breach the security of companies like Amazon, RM or T212.

Rather than the debit card option I use open banking to make deposits to T212.
