credit card fraud

I had a call this moring from a company telling me my order with them was ready for despatch. I was very surprised by this as I hadn't ordered anything with them and would they cancel this order
After the initial surprise, I rang the company back and tried to get as much info about the order as possible. The people were very helpful and gave me the last 4 digits of the visa card used and expiry date, when the order was placed with them even down to the time, the name on the credit card, invoice and delivery address details and they even gave me an email address for the person ordering on this card.
The email address is like nothing I've seen before, the card number does not correspond to any cards I hold or have held in the past but the delivery/invoice address is the same as my home address bar for the final digits on the post code.
Without knowing what bank or building society issued the card I am powerless to act and report or cancel this fraudelant card.
Have I been scammed I wonder and what can I do about it now ??

sounds like it was someone trying to scam u and looking to get u to say ur card number back to them ,call all the cards u have and ask them to check ur statements and recent trans for reassurance and keep an eye on ur statements over next few months, if any strange or startling happens then call ur card company asap!

I've applied for Experian and should be able to check that once my pin number arrives. I've also just come back from my bank and they have reassured me that they have had no contact for any credit applications or card appllications at all.

Could be simply that the address is wrong on their order - you said that the postcode details are different? But you're right to check. Hope you get it sorted! :)

My old card was cloned and the person responsible had arranged to have over £2500.00 of electrical goods delivered to my home address, ok they had all of my correct details but the point is they were brazen enough to wait outside my house to 'recieve' the goods (IF they had succeeded!).

Perhaps your address was being used as a collection point by the thieves?
