White goods insurance

Tumble dryer broke down. Not repairable was sent e-card towards replacement machine but makers ( white knight )no longer in business. Curry’s stock too big do not fit or not in stock. Alternatives elsewhere are available ( phoned asked curry knowhow ins  to transfer money so I could buy elsewhere.   Told this cannot be done.  Buy at curry’s or not at all.    Thought insurance was to cover repair or replace. What are consumer rights on this

thanks in advance

If the terms say that you have to have the replacement form Currys you are stuck if they no longer carry a size that will fit - you have to realise that it is you who are rejecting the offer of a valid replacement. Currys are offering you a replacement which you could put somewhere other than where you have your current dryer, but you are rejecting their offer. You can wait until they can get stock of a replacement machine. That is what I would do. You can buy a second-hand machine off eBay for not much and sell this on when Currys deliver the replacement machine.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
