Most SMETS1 meters don't work anymore. Just go and read the meter yourself, and provide monthly meter readings to your supplier when requested - sorted!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3661

With respect, you are only partly correct. From the latest DCC Report dated 1 Feb 21:JGB1955 said:Most SMETS1 meters don't work anymore. Just go and read the meter yourself, and provide monthly meter readings to your supplier when requested - sorted!
Quote: Much of the recent accelerated growth of the DCC’s network is attributed to the mass migration of more than 3 million first-generation meters (SMETS1). These meters pre-date the DCC network and the industry has worked hard to retrofit the many technology variants to the platform, giving the meters full smart functionality which is retained even when the consumer switches supplier. UnquoteEnrolment and Adoption of SMETS1 meters is going forward at speed.1 -
This would explain why my Ovo smets 1 meter has suddenly started tracking with BG.[Deleted User] said:

Last time I looked - about 6 weeks ago my SMETS1 meter which was fitted by BG about 4 years ago (since when I have done several switches) is due to be ported mid-year, though these timelines have a habit of right shifting every time DCC do an update. Sorry I don't have the link to hand but there is a table of model names and migration dates on DCC's website.0

geeza1400, martin doesn't read these forums, so wouldn't waste your time
Secondly you haven't provided make of smart meter or name of provider who installed it, so impossible to give you any advice regarding this.0 -

I have a SMET 2 meter, but EDF can't read it remotely. Is it likely another company could read it remotely?

No. All SMETS2 meters use the DCC Network which suppliers use to access your meters. What exactly is the problem? There is a known issue with some WNC1 communications hubs ( a DCC not supplier responsibility) which only the hub manufacturer can resolve.michaelsaville said:I have a SMET 2 meter, but EDF can't read it remotely.
