Faulty TV from Currys

I purchased a TV from Currys via their website on 1/1/2021 and this was delivered 5/1/2021. Within a couple of weeks the TV had developed a fault. On hindsite I should have reported it straight away. However I didn't report the fault until 7th February. Teamknowhow collected the tv for repair. On 14th February they advised they could not repair The TV and will send me a currys egift card. I have received the egift card which is for the amount I paid for the TV. However the TV on their website is now £50 more.
I have asked for a direct replacement and not an egift card. Am i within my rights to ask for the same model tv as a replacement even though it's now £50 more expensive?

You're within your rights to ask, however they have the right to say no.CliveDavid said:I purchased a TV from Currys via their website on 1/1/2021 and this was delivered 5/1/2021. Unless you originally paid using a gift card I would be asking for the refund to be made to the payment card used to make the purchase. I would then purchase from either John Lewis or Richer Sounds, who both have lengthy warranty terms included and infinitely better customer service.1

As above, you're not obliged to accept a gift card unless you paid with that method. As for the price change, that's hard luck I'm afraid. If they fully refund you they've met their obligation to you.1
